Preserving the Essence of Heritage and Architecture Through Photography
Working as a heritage and architectural photographer based near Bath, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the stories that historic buildings and estates can tell. Each project offers a unique opportunity to reveal the character and craftsmanship that make these places so special.
Historic buildings aren’t just structures; they’re narratives frozen in time. My aim is to photograph these spaces with care and respect, capturing the details that reflect their age, style, and significance. Whether it’s a Georgian townhouse, a country estate or a restored monument, every image contributes to preserving and promoting our architectural heritage.

A Local Perspective with National Reach
Being based in the Bath area means I have a strong connection to some of the UK’s most treasured heritage sites. This local insight helps me navigate the challenges of photographing historic properties, from lighting considerations to working within conservation guidelines. Over time, I’ve collaborated with architects, preservation trusts, and estate managers, creating images that support restoration projects and tourism campaigns alike.
The Importance of Authenticity in Architectural Photography
I believe in using natural light and minimal post-processing to maintain the authenticity of each building. The textures of stone, the play of shadow and light, and the intricate details all deserve to be shown as they truly are. This approach not only respects the site but also creates compelling visuals that resonate with viewers and potential visitors.

Case Studies
Bath Preservation Trust - Beckford’s Tower, Bath
Photographing and creating an aerial video for Beckford’s Tower was a rewarding challenge, capturing the intricate details that make this historic folly unique. Working with natural light helped highlight the tower’s textured stonework and delicate architectural features, providing images used in presentations and promotional materials.
Badminton Estate, Gloucestershire
At the Badminton Estate, I documented a diverse collection of interiors and gardens, complemented by aerial footage to capture a unique corner of the estate. This multi-faceted approach highlights both the grandeur of the architecture and the beauty of the surrounding landscape, supporting corporate events and tourism marketing.
Christian Fleming Architects, Cotswolds
Working with Christian Fleming Architects, I photographed their carefully crafted new vernacular-style properties set within the prestigious Cotswolds landscape. The images showcase how traditional architectural elements are blended with modern design, respecting the character of the region while creating timeless homes.
Woodhouse & Law - Gardens, Somerset
I was invited to photograph the Woodhouse & Law designed gardens, a series of thoughtfully created outdoor spaces including the owner’s private garden sanctuary. The project captured both the artistry of the garden design and the tranquil character of the personal spaces, creating images used for heritage documentation and promotional campaigns.
Bath & North East Somerset Council – World Heritage Plan
Collaborating with Bath & North East Somerset Council, I contributed to the promotion and enhancement of their World Heritage Plan. This involved capturing images that highlight the city's rich heritage, supporting the council's efforts to preserve and promote Bath's status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The visuals produced are used in various promotional materials and exhibitions to engage the public and raise awareness about Bath's cultural significance.

Sharing Stories Through Images
In addition to showcasing finished photographs, I like to share insights into my process and the history behind the buildings I shoot. This storytelling element adds depth to the work and helps clients and audiences connect with the heritage being documented.
